BJP, Congress workers clash in Patna over abuse against PM Modi

Patna/IBNS: A massive clash between the workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress broke out at Patna when the ruling party took out protests against the abusive words used against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother late Heeraben Modi at INDIA bloc's rally, media reports said.

In a video which surfaced, the workers of the two parties were seen clashing with their respective party flags on the road.

While the BJP workers vowed to give a befitting reply to the Congress, the opposition party alleged the ruling camp was involved in the incident.

Darbhanga Senior Superintendent of Police said the accused, identified as Rizwi alias Raja, was arrested on Thursday night.

Rizwi had shouted abusive slogans against the Prime Minister and his late mother at the rally which was conducted by the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

The incident occurred during the Vote Adhikaar Yatra which was spearheaded by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition cum Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and RJD top leader Tejashwi Yadav.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who took cognisance of the incident, posted on X, "The use of indecent language against the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and his late mother from the Congress and RJD platforms during the Voter Rights Yatra in Darbhanga is extremely unbecoming, and I condemn it."

The BJP hit out at the Congress and RJD posted on X, "From the platform of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav's journey, extremely indecent language was used against the late mother of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Such depravity has never been seen before in politics. This journey has crossed all limits of insult, hatred, and vulgarity."

The saffron party has also lashed out at the two opposition camps for inviting Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu and Telangana, MK Stalin and Revanth Reddy, to the rally.

"Tejashwi and Rahul had previously invited leaders like Stalin and Revanth Reddy, who had insulted the people of Bihar, to their journey, thereby humiliating the people of Bihar. Now, in their state of desperation, they are making people hurl abuses at the revered late mother of Prime Minister Modi Ji.

"Tejashwi and Rahul have made such filthy language be used from their platform that it is not even possible to repeat it on a public platform," the party added.

"This is such a mistake that even if Rahul and Tejashwi beg for forgiveness a thousand times by holding their ears and doing sit-ups, the people of Bihar will not forgive them. Extremely shameful!"

Bihar will go to polls later this year.
