Bihar: Lalu Prasad's RJD to support JD-U in RS bypoll
Patna, June 18 (IBNS): The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) led by Lalu Pradad Yadav on Wednesday announced support to Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal-United (JD-U) for the upcoming Rajya Sabha bypoll in Bihar.
The two JD-U nominees, diplomat-politician Pawan Varma and Gulam Rasool Balyawi, are facing tough competitions from Independents-real estate baron Anil Sharma and Sabir Ali.
The Independents are reportedly being backed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The state is scheduled to witness the bypoll on June 19.
The RJD chief had earlier said the parties have joined hands to keep the "communal forces" led by the BJP at bay.
"Our party will support JD-U to keep away communal forces from Bihar," Lalu Prasad told media.
