India has handed over 90 electric buses to Mauritius during External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s visit to the island nation.

Boost to Green Mobility partnership

Presenting the buses to Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, Jaishankar said the initiative reaffirms the shared commitment of both countries to sustainable public transportation. He described the buses as a “moving symbol” of the growing green partnership between India and Mauritius.

Healthcare ties strengthened with new facility

During his visit, Jaishankar also inaugurated a Renal Transplant Unit at Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital. He said the new facility would improve access to tertiary healthcare for kidney patients and further deepen cooperation in the health sector.

Visit highlights India’s Strategic Vision

Jaishankar visited Mauritius on April 9–10 to attend the 9th Indian Ocean Conference. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit underscores India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, Vision MAHASAGAR, and its commitment to the Global South.

Next stop: UAE for strategic talks

In the second leg of his tour, Jaishankar will visit the United Arab Emirates from April 11–12 to meet the country’s leadership and review bilateral cooperation, aiming to further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
