Varanasi/UNI: Former Congress national president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that there is an atmosphere of fear and hatred in the country, which has bifurcated people in two parts, the rich and the poor.

Addressing a public meeting as a part of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra after offering prayers at Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Rahul said that this country is of love and not of hatred and it will only become stronger when all people work together.

"If we bring people from all walks of life together that will only be the real patriotism," he said

He said that there is such an atmosphere in the country where what will happen tomorrow is not known at all.

"This country has been bifurcated into two parts, one is of rich and another is of poor. There is immense unemployment in the country," he said.

The Congress leader said that there is not a single small and medium traders or businessmen who have benefited from GST and demonetisation. He also said that the government is favouring business tycoons.

He said, "Rich people are paying at the same rate of GST as that being paid by the poor, which is not justifiable at all and that's why we have coined the name Nyay (justice) and named our Yatra as 'Nyay Yatra'."

Rahul said that during their Yatra he did not see any hatred and people even from Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) too came and talked with him nicely.

"This country will only become strong when we all work together," he said.

He said there are two biggest issues in the country, one is unemployment and another is Inflation. He said that the Yatra which began from Manipur and will conclude in Maharashtra.
