Bengaluru man rapes woman staying at his paying guest; arrested
Bengaluru: A college student in Bengaluru has accused the owner of the paying guest (PG) accommodation where she recently moved in of raping her after threatening to deny her food and shelter unless she “cooperated.”
The accused, identified as Ashraf, has been arrested after the victim filed an FIR at a local police station, according to an NDTV report.
According to the complaint, the student had shifted into Ashraf’s PG only 10 days ago.
On the night of August 2, around 12:41 AM, she alleged that Ashraf entered her room and made inappropriate demands.
“He approached me and said he would provide food and accommodation and asked me to cooperate with him. When I refused, he held my hand, dragged me, and forced me into a car, took me to a room. There, he sexually assaulted me,” the student stated in her complaint.
She added that she had attempted to share her location with a friend but was unable to do so.
Between 1:30 am and 2:15 am, Ashraf allegedly dropped her back at the PG, after which she approached the police seeking action.
This disturbing incident comes just a month after a similar case in the city, where another PG owner, Ravi Teja Reddy, was accused of raping a 21-year-old female nursing student.
That survivor had claimed that Reddy sexually assaulted her after she confessed to stealing three gold rings from another woman staying in the same paying guest and begged him not to alert the police.
