Bangladesh Foreign Minister calls on President Pranab Mukherjee

New Delhi, Sept 19 (IBNS) Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali called on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday.

The Minister was accompanied by eight Secretaries to the Government of Bangladesh who are in Delhi to attend the third meeting of the India-Bangladesh Joint Consultative Commission.

Speaking on the occasion, the President welcomed the Bangladesh Foreign Minister who was visiting India for the first time after assuming office and said the Joint Consultative Commission was a good mechanism.

He said there is need for speedy implementation of decisions.

"Bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh have grown and expanded in recent years. The two countries have made concrete progress in almost all areas. There is now need to work on increasing connectivity," he said.

The Bangladesh Foreign Minister said Bangladesh is moving forward on all fronts and the Sheikh Hasina Government stands poised to lead the country into the modern age.
