Panaji/UNI: Union Minister of State for Defence and AYUSH, Shripad Naik, will be discharged from Manipal Hospital later on Saturday, according to a senior doctor of the hospital.

"We are discharging Shripad ji today by 1.30 to 2 pm," Dr Shekhar Salkar from Manipal Hospital said.

The union minister was admitted to the hospital on Aug 12 after he had tested positive for Covid-19.

His health condition was being monitored by a team of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

The team had visited Goa to review Naik's health condition during his hospitalisation twice.

Naik is a senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from the North Goa constituency.
