Assam: Two UPRF militants gunned down in Karbi Anglong

Guwahati: Two militants belonging to United People’s Revolutionary Front (UPRF) were killed in an encounter with police in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Sunday.

The gun fight took place at Jolen village in Singhasan hill under Manja police station in the hill district.

Assam DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta said that, two UPRF militants gunned down in the encounter and police had recovered two AK-47 rifles from the encounter place.

The Assam DGP further said that, intermittent firing is going on at the encounter site.

“The UPRF militants are actively working under the tutelage of poaching and drug cartels of Churachandpur in Manipur,” the Assam DGP said.

He tweeted: “Braving the elements & extreme terrain, in an encounter @assampolice in #KarbiAnglong  neutralized two militants belonging to United Peaple's Revolutionery Front today. 2 AK 47 has been recovered from them.  Intermittent firing is going on at the encounter site.”
