Assam teacher gets six years of imprisonment for sexually abusing a minor girl student

Guwahati: A local court in Assam’s Chirang district has awarded six years of imprisonment to a teacher for sexually abusing a minor girl student.

According to the reports, the Additional District and Session Judge court and Special Judge (POCSO), Bijni on Thursday passed a judgment for six years of imprisonment to Sanjib Kumar Ray who is a tutorial teacher of Chirang district and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000.

The accused person had allegedly sexually abused a minor girl student of Class 7 at her home in this year.

Following the incident, the family members of the victim had lodged a complaint before police in February this year and police had registered a case (no – 23/2022) at Bijni police station.

Advocate Prabin Deb Roy said that, the Additional District and Session Judge and Special Judge (POCSO) Court passed the final judgment in connection with the sexually abusing case which was registered at Bjijni police station (case no – 23/2022).
