Assam Rifles seize three foreign made arms in Manipur

Imphal, May 2 (IBNS): The troops of Assam Rifles had seized three foreign made sophisticated weapons and apprehended an illegal arms dealer in Manipur on Wednesday.

According to the reports, based on intelligence input, Assam Rifles troops had launched operation at Churachandpur area and seized the arms from a person, who smuggled the arms from neighbouring Myanmar.

Security personnel recovered one US made M4 A2 Carbine, one Myanmar made MA MK3 rifle, a German made 9mm GSG-5 Carbine and magazines in possession from the person.

A top official of Assam Rifles said that the arms were smuggled from Myanmar.

Security personnel apprehended the person and interrogated him to collect more information.

Security personnel earlier also recovered huge cache of smuggled arms in Manipur.
