Assam reports fresh COVID-19 positive case

Guwahati/IBNS: Assam on Tuesday reported a fresh positive case for COVID-19 and with this, the state's tally has now increased to 44.

The new case has been reported from Kokrajhar district with travel history from West Bengal's Cooch Behar.

Confirming the report, Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “One person from Kokrajhar dist, with a travel history of Cooch Behar in West Bengal, has tested positive for #COVID19."

Earlier on April 30, five COVID-19 positive cases were detected in the state including four from Bongaigaon district and one from Karimganj district.

Assam has reported 44 positive cases for COVID-19 so far including nine cases from Golaghat district, six from Morigaon district, six cases from Goalpara district, five each cases from Dhubri, Bongaigaon districts, four cases from Nalbari district, two cases from Karimganj and one each from South Salmara, Kamrup (Metro), Kamrup, Lakhimpur, Cachar and Hailakandi district.

Out of 44 COVID-19 patients, one patient from Hailakandi district died and 32 others were discharged from the hospitals.

The state presently has 11 active cases.
