New Delhi, May 29 (IBNS): Former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has opted out of the new National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government for the present time over health issues.

In a letter, Jaitley urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to give him any responsibility of the new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA government for now.

"I am writing to you to formally request you that I should be allowed a reasonable time for myself, my treatment and my health and, therefore, not be a part of any responsibility, for the present, in the new Government" Jaitley wrote.

The interim budget this year was presented by acting Finance Minister Piyush Goyal in absence of Jaitley.

Modi will take oath as the Prime Minister on Thursday. He was appointed to the Prime Minister's Office on last Saturday.

Along with Modi, the council of ministers will also take oath on Thursday.
