Amit Shah to visit Assam on Dec 26, few sitting Congress MLA likely to join BJP

Guwahati: To take stock of the BJP’s poll preparedness in Assam ahead of the assembly polls, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Assam on Dec 26.

Amit Shah will take part in few government and party programmes during his visit.

On the other hand, at least 4 sitting Congress MLAs, including a former cabinet minister of the Tarun Gogoi-led government, would likely to join BJP in presence of Union Home minister Amit Shah in Guwahati on Dec 26.

A top source of Assam state BJP said along with former cabinet minister Ajanta Neog, at least three others Congress MLAs would likely to join BJP on Dec 26.

The source said several sitting Congress MLAs are in touch with BJP and desire to join the saffron party.

Reacting over Ajanta Neog’s decision, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora said the Congress party will not be affected if 10 more Ajanta Neog will leave the party.

“We don’t believe that, other sitting Congress MLAs will join BJP. It is only BJP’s propaganda,” Ripun Bora said.

Bora also said Congress will win maximum seats in the upcoming assembly polls in the state.
