Amit Shah makes visit to Delhi hospital, orders CCTV installation in COVID-19 wards
New Delhi/IBNS: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday directed the Delhi Government to install CCTV cameras in all coronavirus wards of Delhi hospitals to ensure proper monitoring of patients.
Shah made a surprise visit at the national capital's Lok Nayak Jai Prakash hospital to review the situation after the Supreme Court last week lashed out at the Delhi government over the "horrendous, horrific and pathetic" handling of COVID-19 situation in the national capital.

Following his direction to the chief secretary, the Delhi government has ordered the installation to be done within 24 hours.
Shah has asked the authorities to set up back-up canteens to maintain food supply in case a kitchen needs to be shut down because of the pandemic.
He also asked that psycho-social counselling of doctors and nurses must be done for those engaged in the treatment of coronavirus patients.
The handling of the COVID-19 situation in various hospitals came in light after the Supreme Court last Friday slammed the Delhi government for its kind of treating the infected patients.
"The situation in Delhi is horrendous, horrific and pathetic. (There is a) very sorry state of affairs in its hospitals that aren't giving due care and concern to the bodies. Patients' families aren't even informed about deaths. Families haven't been able to attend the last rites too in some cases," it had said.
Besides Delhi, the apex court had pulled up Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and West Bengal governments too claiming that "COVID-19 patients are treated worse than animals."
"In one case, a body was found in the garbage. Patients are dying and nobody is there to even attend to them," it had mentioned.
Earlier, several people in Delhi even complained that they were turned away by the hospitals claiming to be over-run with patients.
Following this, Amit Shah, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting on Sunday to review the situation in the national capital.
The union territory of Delhi is one of the worst coronavirus-hit cities in India.
