Kolkata/UNI/IBNS: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on a two-day tour of West Bengal, is likely to pay a courtesy call to Indian cricket board (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly at his ancestral home in Kolkata's Behala area Friday evening, media reports said.

"Shah on a tour of Bengal is likely to visit Ganguly's home in south Kolkata on Friday evening," where the visiting dignitary may dine with former Indian captain, the report added.

Shah is scheduled to attend a cultural programme at the iconic Victoria Memorial at 6 pm where Ganguly's dancer wife, Dona Ganguly, is expected to perform with her troupe.

From there the Union Home Minister may go to Ganguly's ancestral home at Sir Biren Roy Road in Behala.

Reacting to the media report, West Bengal Chief Minister and Shah's arch-rival Mamata Banerjee, said Thursday that anyone can visit Sourav Ganguly's house.

She also suggested that Ganguly should also treat the visiting dignitary with Rossogola and Dai (sweet curd) which are very popular and famous sweet dishes of Bengal.

During the 2021 assembly election campaigns, Shah had dined in many households, including that of classical singer Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty.

Shah, who was in North Bengal's Tin Bigha Corridor in Cooch Behar district and attended a BSF programme Thursday, will hold a close door meeting with BJP leaders at a five star hotel in Rajarhat Friday.
