Guwahati/IBNS: After West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is now in another poll-bound state, Assam, as he is set to participate in a host of events.

Shah arrived in Guwahati on Friday night.

He was received by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the Guwahati Airport.

The Home Minister tweeted, "Reached Guwahati! I wholeheartedly thank the people of Assam for such warm welcome."

Shah was welcomed by a performance by folk artists and locals.

The former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president will lay the foundation stone of various development projects at Amingaon Parade Ground, Guwahati at 1 pm.

The BJP, which wrested power in the state in 2016, is looking to replicate its performance in the next year assembly polls.
