Amit Shah chairs security meeting to review Amarnath yatra arrangements
Srinagar, Jun 26 (UNI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting to review overall security situation besides arrangements being made for the annual pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, commencing from July 1 from both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal tracks.
Official sources said that Shah chaired the meeting at S K International Convention Center (SKICC) on the bank of Dal Lake this afternoon.
Senior officers from the Army, Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMF), Police and other intelligence agencies participated in the meeting.
They said Union Home Minister was informed about the three-tier security arrangements already in place right from the base camp at Jammu, National highway to base camps at Nunwan Pahalgam and Baltal.
He was also informed that adequate security arrangements had been made to foil any militant attempt to target pilgrims on the highway.
Besides, he was also informed that foolproof security arrangements had been made in and around both the base and other transit camps in the valley.
Sources said that Home Minister has directed the security agencies to maintain coordination for smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
Shah was also informed about the successful operation carried out by the security forces against militants in the state, particularly in south Kashmir, where a large number of top ultras were eliminated.
