Amit Shah chairs review meeting with Naxal-affected states' CMs

New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah is chairing a review meeting with the Chief Ministers of Left wing extremism affected states on Monday in Vigyan Bhawan here.

According to a senior official in the security setup, the high-level meeting will deliberate on the Naxal upsurge on tri junction of Maharashtra, Telangana and Chhattisgarh and also evaluate the financial position of Naxal groups in the affected states.

District wise review of the situation will be done especially of those pockets or areas where the Naxals have a considerable presence despite the recent operations by the security forces, a source in the security establishment said here.

The required steps to counter this menace is a prime point of the agenda of the meeting, the source added.

In the recent past, the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), along with the state police forces, had launched operations against the Maoists in affected states and secured considerable dominance in those areas.

The National Investigation Agency has also taken steps to choke the financial support to Maoist group in some states.

The Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh,Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra are present in the meeting.

Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee did not turn up for this meeting.
