Guwahati, Sep 8 (UNI) Allaying apprehension of people excluded from the National Register of Citizens (NRC), Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday assured that no genuine citizens will be left out from the NRC.

Addressing the Plenary of the North Eastern Council (NEC) here, Shah said, "NRC is an issue here. Many people raised many kinds of questions. The NRC has been done in a

time-bound manner."

"I want to assert that the government will not tolerate any infiltrator in the country," he added.

Meeting a state BJP delegation over the NRC issue later, Shah reportedly assured them that no genuine citizen will be left out from the NRC and no foreigner will be included in the
list.

A delegation of the state BJP, comprising state party president Ranjit Dass, and state Cabinet ministers Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma and Parimal Suklabaidya, among others, called on Shah over the NRC issue.

Briefing reporters later, Suklabaidya said the Union Home Minister has urged the people not to be worried over the matter.

The final list of Assam National Register of Citizens (NRC) came out on Aug 31 with inclusion of 3.11 crore in the list. 19 lakh people have been left out.
