Amid conflicting reports of fresh gas leak from Vizag chemical plant villagers are being evacuated

Visakhapatnam/IBNS: While one official said that noxious fumes are leaking again from the tanker of a chemical plant where there was Styrene leakage in the wee hours of Thursday in Vishakapatnam killing 11 people, other sources, including an MLA and the state police chief, denied it.  The local MLA denied the reports of fresh gas leak though a Visakhapatnam Dist Fire Officer earlier confirmed it.

Firemen with NDRF's support, fire tenders, foam tenders, ambulance and police are at the scene. An operation is underway.to evacuate villages in 2-3 km radius.

 The Local MLA denied reports of fresh leakage but Visakhapatnam Dist Fire Officer Sandeep Anand confirmed it. He said ambulaces are ready, according to media reports. 

Andhra Pradesh DGP Gautam Savang has been quoted in media saying that there is no fresh gas leak at Vizag chemical plant, but nearby villages are evacuated as a precautionary measure.

On Thursday in the wee hours at least 11 people including a child were killed after a toxic gas leaked from the chemical plant in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam.

 Nearly 800 people were admitted to hospital after Styrene gas leaked from an LG Polymers facility located in the city at around 3 am.Even hours after the incident, several people were found unconscious in lanes, ditches and roads due to inhalation of the toxic gas.
