Akhilesh admits opposition parties are no match to BJP's prowess

Azamgarh, Jun 3 (UNI): Samawadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has candidly admitted that the opposition parties are no match for the skills and prowess of the BJP to hold the attention of the electorate.

"From now on you should dream for the big battles of 2022 and 2024, only then will you get success and there is no other option in politics. The goals of politics of struggle can be achieved only by setting big targets. You will get nothing by eyeing on small targets, so start preparing for the next battles of 2022 and 2024," said Akhilesh Yadav on Monday while addressing a public meeting here.

It was his thanksgiving visit to Azamgarh after winning the Lok Sabha election from this constituency with record margin. His father Mulayam Singh Yadav had won from this Lok Sabha constituency in 2014. The next election of UP Assembly are due in 2022 while the next Lok Sabha elections are due in 2024.

"The recent Lok Sabha elections were a race between a Ferrari and a cycle. We lack the skills to deflect the attention of the people. We could not get across our message to the people for whom we were fighting. We could not fight the battle for the deprived and disadvantaged sections of the society. The BJP has the skills to spin the mood and the attention of the people at will and people believe them," he said.

"The BJP maligned our alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) as alliance of Yadavs, alliance of Muslims and alliance of Dalits. But we could not convince our core voters and convey our message to them," said Akhilesh Yadav.

"The Lok Sabha elections were a different kind of battle which we could not decipher. They rigged our mind, whichever TV channel you switched on, it was only Modi who dominated screen and our voters could not see through the game of the BJP," said Akhilesh Yadav.

Asking his voters to identify your enemy, SP president said: "Our battle is not with Dinesh Lal Yadav who is a Bhojpuri film actor. I have not seen his movies but you must watch his films. They rigged our mind by fielding Dinesh Yadav. The BJP had fielded Dinesh Lal Yadav against Akhilesh Yadav who finished the runners up in the elections.

SP president will stay at Azamgarh on Monday night and will visit Ghazipur on Tuesday.
