Ahmedabad/IBNS: In an attempt to curb down the spike in the number of coronavirus cases in the city, Ahmedabad has imposed night curfew from 9 PM to 6 AM, which will come to effect immediately.

The city in Gujarat reported a total of 46,022 cases till Wednesday.

The sudden spike in the cases of the contagion has been attributed to the festivals, officials said.

They also mentioned that hospitals in the city have enough beds to accommodate the newly infected patients.

The number of micro containment areas in the city rose to 100 after 14 areas were added to the list on Wednesday, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation stated.

Meanwhile, India on Thursday reported over 45,000 new Covid-19 cases taking the tally to over 8.95 million.

In 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday mornings, the country reported 585 deaths, taking the fatality toll to 1,31,578.
