Ahmed Patel asks if Election Commission is waiting for PM's travel programmes to end

| @indiablooms | Mar 04, 2019, at 08:37 pm

New Delhi, Mar 4 (IBNS): Congress leader Ahmed Patel has said it appears the Election Commission was waiting for Prime Minister schedule to be clear before announcing the date for the Lok Sabha elections.

"Is the Election Commission waiting for the Prime Minister’s “official” travel programs to conclude before announcing dates for General Elections?" he tweeted.

"Using govt functions as an excuse for political rallies, flooding TV/radio and print with political ads, it seems that EC is giving the government a long rope to campaign till the last moment using public money," he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been travelling all over the country over the past few weeks announcing new schemes and inaugurating new projects. He has also been interacting with BJP party workers, mostly through video conference.
The BJP ministers are also engaged in inaugurating new projects.

Meanwhile, an NDTV report said the Opposition is rethinking its alliance equations in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack. Other alliance partners are urging to Congress to strike a deal with AAP in Delhi and a deal with Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress could also happen in West Bengal.
