New Delhi, Aug 4 (IBNS): The Ministry of Defence on Monday said Admiral RK Dhowan, Chief of the Naval Staff, will be visiting Canada from Aug 5 to Aug 8.

The visit is on the invitation of the Commander of Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and reciprocates a visit by the Commander of RCN to India in January 2013.

"During his tour the CNS will visit Esquimalt Naval Base at Victoria, which is the Headquarters of the Maritime Forces Pacific of the Canadian Navy. At Ottawa, the CNS will have bilateral meetings with senior hierarchy of Canadian Forces including Lt Gen GR Thibault, the officiating Chief of Defence Staff, Lt Gen SA Beare, Commander Canadian Joint Operations Command and Vice Adm MAG Norman, Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy," the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

The Ministry said the visit is aimed at fostering closer navy-to-navy ties with Canada, and to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation between the two navies.
