Active COVID-19 cases in West Bengal cross 5000-mark, 17 deaths in last 24 hours

Kolkata/IBNS: With 343 new cases of novel coronavirus registered in the past 24 hours, the total tally in West Bengal has mounted to 9328, including 5117 active cases, 432 deaths and 3779 discharges, reports said on Wednesday.

According to a bulletin issued by Bengal health and family welfare department, 17 fatalities and 159 discharges were reported in the state in the last 24 hours.

The bulletin also stated that the recovery rate in West Bengal stood at 40.51 per cent.

West Bengal health department said that the state had tested 2,97,419 samples till date with 9519 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

Presently, 20275 persons are kept in government quarantine centres and 1,55,824 people are under home surveillance in the state, reports said.
