AAP likely to win Delhi elections, says exit polls

New Delhi, Feb 7 (IBNS): Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to clinch the Delhi Assembly polls, according to early trends from exit polls released on Saturday.

The ABP-Nielsen survey said the AAP will win 43 seats in the 70-member Assembly while the BJP will stand on the  second position with 26 seats.

As per the survey by India Today-Cicero, Kejriwal's party is likely to get between 35 to 43 seats while the BJP could bag 23-29 seats

The Congress might end up with just 2-5 seats.

According to IndiaTV-CVoter exit poll till 5 pm, the AAP is likely to win 35-43 seats. The BJP has been projected to win between 25-33 seats.

The Axis-APM poll has said that the AAP might win 53 seats in Delhi while the BJP is likely to get 17 seats.

More than 60 percent voters exercised their franchise as voting has ended for the Delhi Assembly polls on Saturday.

At total of 673 candidates are in the fray for the Delhi Assembly elections where polling is being held at 12,177 polling stations.

The polling on Saturday is majorly seen as a contest between AAP’s Arvind Kejirwal’s claims versus Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s charismatic leadership following his landslide victory in the Lok Sabha polls last year.

After the polls were over, Arvind Kejriwal tweeted: "My sincere thnks n congratulations to all selfless volunteers of AAP, who worked round the clock for their country. AAP is bcoz of u. My gratitud 2 Delhiites for their support. U r so amazing.U rejcted politics of caste n religion.Hope final results r as per exit polls."

BJP's CM candidate Kiran Bedi thanked the people of Delhi for voting as she tweeted: "Thank all Delhiites for having voted in such GOOD Number.Hope to see R Delhi now make positive headlines,collaborative not confrontational."

The counting of votes to the 70-member Assembly will be held on Feb  10.
