New Delhi, July 8 (IBNS):Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday criticised the Railway Budget announced by the Centre and said it turned out to be a 'missed oppurtunity'.

" Rail budget turned out to b a missd opportunity. The new govt has faild to spell out its roadmap for improvemnt of railways," the AAP tweeted.

" Rail budget lacks direction and suffers from regional imbalance," the party said.

" NDA govt cud have used its maiden rail budget to spell out its long term vision for improvement of railways, but it is unfortunately missing," the party said.

Speaking on job creation, the AAP said: " Nearly 2.5 lakh posts are lying vacant in railways and out of these 1.6 lakh are in departments directly concerned with railways safety. "

The nearly two- year- old party said the budget lacked its focus on the needs of the common man.

Promising course correction and pledging to move away from populism, Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday presented the Narendra Modi government's maiden Railway Budget focussing on a public-private partnership in infrastructure development, infusion of FDI, announcing introduction of a diamond quadrilateral of high speed trains, an inaugural bullet train service besides harping on e-ticketing augmentation, safety of passengers and cleanliness.
