New Delhi, June 30 (IBNS): India said 94 nationals have left conflict-hit Iraq on Monday.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said 600 people will leave Iraq this week.

"So, in essence, if I were to sum up, the departure of more than 600 Indian nationals will be facilitated during the course of this week. We are continuing to work on paperwork, we are continuing to work on ticketing, and we are continuing to work with the employers to work out solutions for those who may have problems. That’s all I have right now, if any of you would like to ask me specific questions, I am willing to answer those," Akbaruddin said in a press conference.

"In Najaf, today, our officials have ensured the return of 60 Indian workers; from Najaf 60 Indian workers have left today. The papers of another 31 are being processed and their bookings have been done. They will leave tomorrow. In addition, for day after tomorrow we are processing ticketing and papers of another 30. So let me repeat, 60 already left, 31 for tomorrow all papers are being processed and 30 the day after - this is in Najaf," he said.

Speaking on the situation in Karbala, he said: "Let me now go to Karbala. In Karbala, the departure of 30 Indian workers has taken place today. Paperwork of another 100 plus workers is in the pipeline and will be undertaken in the next 2-3 days. We also hope to complete paperwork of another 100 workers, other than those who are going to depart in next 3-4 days. So, as far as Karbala is concerned, during the course of next, say, 5-6 days approximately 230 will have left; 30 have left today, a 100 in the next 3-4 days and another 100 beyond that."

Akbaruddin said 4 people have left Baghdad city on Monday and 8 others are likely to leave 'depending on the availability of tickets in flights in the next day or so'.
