2 terrorists killed in encounter near J&K's Kathua-Udhampur border

Srinagar/IBNS: At least two terrorists were killed by security forces during an encounter near the Kathua-Udhampur border in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, media reports said.

A gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorists in Udhampur district earlier in the day.

On being informed about the presence of terrorists in the region, paramilitary troops and police personnel rushed to Basantgarh and cordoned off the area.

The terrorists opened fire on personnel as soon as they arrived, prompting retaliation by the security forces.

According to reports, reinforcements have been rushed to the area.

The encounter came just hours after personnel from the Border Security Force (BSF) received injuries when Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu's Akhnoor sector.
