Trust eroded: NSA Ajit Doval's tough message to top Chinese diplomat Wang Yi

| @indiablooms | Jul 25, 2023, at 10:14 pm

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Tuesday gave a strong message to  Chinese diplomat Wang Yi by saying that the situation along the LAC in the Western Sector of the India-China boundary since 2020 had eroded strategic trust and public and political basis of the relationship between the two nations.

The two leaders met on the sidelines of the BRICS NSAs’ Meeting in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

"NSA emphasised the importance of continuing efforts to fully resolve the situation and restore peace and tranquility in the border areas, so as to remove impediments to normalcy in bilateral relations," read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

The two sides agreed that the India-China bilateral relationship is significant not only for the two countries but also for the region and world.

India and China have been engaged in a military standoff for the last several years.
