New Delhi/UNI: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday came out in open support of the wrestlers protesting against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and its president, and demanded a probe into the matter.

"Our players are the pride of our country. They bring laurels to the country by their performance at the World level.

"The players have made serious allegations against the Wrestling Federation and its chief. Their voices should be heard ," Priyanka wrote in a tweet in Hindi referring to the ongoing protests of the wrestlers at Jantar Mantar here.

She added, "The allegations should be investigated and appropriate action must be taken."

Earlier in the day, Congress' chairman of Media and Publicity Department Pawan Khera while addressing a conference at the party headquarters here, attacked the BJP-led government at the Centre over the same.

"The Prime Minister should issue a statement. The PM and the Sports Minister should speak out. The silence is more shocking than what has happened," Khera said.
