Andhra Pradesh: 5 killed as Konark Express run over them between Sigadam and Chipurupalli station

Bhubaneswar/UNI: In a tragic incident five people were killed and one shifted to hospital with critical injuries after the 11020 Bhubaneswar – CST Mumbai Konark express ran over them in the mid-section of the Visakhapatnam- Palasa mainlines between Sigadam and Chipurupalli Stations late Monday night.

East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources here on Tuesday said one injured was carried in the same train to Srikakulam Road Station and an ambulance was arranged by the railway authorities to shift him to the hospital.

Accident Relief Medical Train ordered from Visakhapatnam to the spot.

ECoR sources here said some people travelling in 12515 Coimbatore-Silcher Express train got down after pulling the chain in the mid-section of the Visakhapatnam- Palasa mainline between Sigadam and Chipurupalli Stations.

They were run over by the 11020 Bhubaneswar–CST Mumbai Konark express while trying to run onto the other side of the railway track.
