Covid-19 positive woman flies to Imphal with fake negative report, fined

Guwahati/IBNS: The Manipur government has imposed a fine of Rs 2000 to a 21-year-old woman for travelling in a flight with fake Covid-19 negative report.

According to the reports, 21-year-old Wangkhem Rabina Devi hailing from Papal Mayai Leikai in Thoubal district of Manipur had travelled from Hyderabad to Imphal on April 22 by Indigo flight no 6E6708, seat no 18F and 6E6181, seat no 5D via Kolkata using a fake Covid-19 negative report.

During investigation and verification by the surveillance team at Imphal airport, it was revealed that Wangkhem Rabina Devi is Covid-19 positive on April 21 with sample IDno 20186628 AP-Govt.

Thoubal district Deputy Commissioner and district magistrate N Bandan Devi had issued an order stating that, such an irresponsible act will likely to transmit, spread infection to other co-passenger and contact travelling in the flight.

“Therefore Ms. Wangkhem Rabina Devi is imposed a fine of Rs 2000 as penalty for violation of guidelines under The Manipur Epidemic Diseases (Enforcement of Covid-19 Guidelines) Regulation, 2020 notified vide no 16/115(50)/2020-H(COVID-19) dated 20th April 2021,” said in the order.

The order also stated that she must execute a bond, with sureties for her good behavior for a period of 6 month under section 110 of Cr.P.C., 1973 as and when she is declared medically fit to appear before the Executive Magistrate.

The Manipur government has made it mandatory for all persons entering the state, by air and land, to produce a negative report of a COVID-19 RT-PCR/TrueNat/CB-NAAT test conducted within 72 hours from arrival.
