Issuing a notification on Monday, the West Bengal government's Urban Development and Municipal Affairs department has appointed TMC MLA from Ramnagar assembly constituency, Akhil Giri, as the new chairman of the DSDA.

Sisir Adhikari, the 79-year-old TMC MP who has been admitted to a Kolkata hospital to undergo cataract surgery, denied reacting on the matter.

Weeks ago, Suvendu Adhikari's brother, Soumendu Adhikari, was removed as the chairperson of Contai Municipality following which he left the TMC and joined BJP.
