Bihar assembly polls: Slow turnout in first two hours

Patna/UNI: After two hours of polling, a meagre 6.74 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 10 am, apparently due to Corona pandemic as in most of 71 seats, polling was in single digit, with highest 19 per cent polling in Kutumba while lowest polling of 3 per cent was registered in Barachatti seat.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kumar Singh said that highest polling was recorded in Kutumba constituency where 19 per cent electorate exercised their franchise.

Minimum 3 per cent polling was recorded in Arwal seat, he added.

In Rohtas district, where polling is in progress in seven seats, 6.52 per cent electorate exercised their franchise. In Gaya, where polling is in progress in 10 seats, 7.01 per cent electorate exercised their franchise.

In most of 71 seats, polling did not pick up in the first two hours.

Meanwhile, two powerful Improvised Explosive Device was recovered from Dhibra police station area in Aurangabad district today. Police Superintendent Sudhir Kumar Podika said that explosives had been defused by a bomb-defusing squad, he added.

Polling is in progress in six seats in the first phase of Bihar Assembly Elections in Aurangabad district.
