New Delhi:  Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday addressed the group's Vijaya Dasami rally where he said India needs to grow bigger than China in terms of power and scope.

"We will have to improve our strategic preparedness, economic power, and international relations and grow bigger than China in power and scope in our relationship with the neighbors," Bhagwat was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

“It was the first time that China experienced the coming together of Indian soldiers’ patriotism, valor, self-respecting policies of today’s leadership of Bharat and the unity displayed by its people. We will have to keep augmenting this power," he said.

He was making the remark at a time when the relationship between India and China touched new low over the recent border standoff in Ladakh.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked Bhagwat for his remark and tweeted: "Deep inside, Mr Bhagwat knows the truth. He is just scared to face it.The truth is China has taken our land and GOI & RSS have allowed it."
