New Delhi/IBNS: India's former President Pranab Mukherjee is still alive and haemodynamically stable, clarified his son Abhijit rubbishing the rumours of his death.

"My Father Shri Pranab Mukherjee is still alive & haemodynamically stable ! Speculations & fake news being circulated by reputed Journalists on social media clearly reflects that Media in India has become a factory of Fake News," Abhijit tweeted.

In a similar tweet, Mukherjee's daughter Sharmistha said, "Rumours about my father is false. Request, esp’ly to media, NOT to call me as I need to keep my phone free for any updates from the hospital."

Mukherjee tested positive for Novel Coronavirus when he went to the hospital to undergo brain surgery for the removal of a clot.

He is currently on ventilator support.

The 84-year-old himself took to Twitter to inform that he had tested positive for the deadly virus.

Mukherjee remained the President of the country of 1.3 billion people between 2012-2017.

Prior to becoming the President, he remained a Congress leader for decades and held several portfolios as a Union Minister.
