New Delhi/IBNS: A couple from Kashmir with alleged links to the Khorasan module of  Islamic State (IS) was caught from south east Delhi's Jamia Nagar for instigating anti-CAA protests and trying to exploit the ongoing situation, an Indian Express report said.

The couple, identified as Jahanjeb Sami and Hina Bashir Beg, was caught on Sunday in an early morning operation following the inputs of the Intelligence Bureau, Deputy Delhi Commissioner of Police(DCP) Pramod Singh Kushwaha said, the report informed.

Jamia and neighbouring Shaheen Bagh in Delhi's Okhla area have been facing protests against the newly amended Citizenship Act which provides Indian citizenship to religious minorities of Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan living in India as refugees after escaping religious persecution in their countries of origin. Such refugees who entered India by Dec 31, 2014 only will be considered for citizenship.

The protests were followed by riots in northeast Delhi between Hindus and Muslims claiming 53 lives. The riots occurred when US President Donald Trump was visiting India with his family.
