Nine including two cops injured in rampage in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Jun 5 (UNI): Nine people including a police inspector and his assistant were wounded when a brawl broke out between two groups at Akbar Mohalla and Ghisad Gali area here on late Tuesday night.

According to the police, an ongoing feud among the boys on a cricket match was escalated to serious fight, resulting in stone pelting which damaged cars and auto rikshaws parked in the area.

In this stone pelting incident police inspector of Laxmipuri police station, Vasant Babar, his assistant Sunil Pawar and seven other persons were injured, the police said.

After receiving information, city DySP Ms Prerana Katte, Tanaji Sawant and other police officers rushed to the spot with additional police force to pacify the situation.

"Police would take detail information about the incident and would take stern action against culprits, who took advantage of a feud between minor boys " District superintendent of police Dr Abhinav Deshmukh said this morning.
