Nirmala Sitharaman visits injured Shashi Tharoor in hospital, Congress leader touched by her gesture

New Delhi, Apr 16 (IBNS): Away from the fight in the world of politics and elections, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday thanked Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman after she visited him in the hospital.

Tharoor is undergoing treatment in a hospital after he was injured during a religious ritual at a temple in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.

Tharoor said he was touched by Nirmala's gesture.

In the picture, Nirmala Sitharaman, who exchanged barbs with Congress leaders over numerous issues in recent times special about Rafale deal, could be seen shaking her hands with Tharoor.

"Touched by the gesture of @nsitharaman, who dropped by today morning to visit me in the hospital, amid her hectic electioneering in Kerala. Civility is a rare virtue in Indian politics - great to see her practice it by example!," Nirmala tweeted.

Shashi Tharoor is a two-time Congress lawmaker from Thiruvananthapuram seat.

Speaking on his accident, Tharoor earlier tweeted: "At first it looked very grave, but thanks to the grace of GandhariAmman Devi (a manifestation of Shakti), the hook fell on my head without damaging either an optic nerve nor the brain. A true Vishu miracle."

He said: "A heavy iron hook fell on my head when a temple Thulabharam scale gave way. Lots of blood but no apparent other damage. Thank God it didn’t hurt anyone around me — could have caused a very serious injury."
