
Goa put on terror alert due to fear of possible attack tourists from Israel
Panaji, Mar 25 (UNI) Following a tip off from the central intelligence agencies, coastal state of Goa has been put on alert.
According to police sources, the tip off was about a possible attack on Israeli tourists in the state as possible revenge by Islamic State terrorists or Al Quaeda for terro attack at Mosque in New Zealand claimed about 50 people.
The alert has been issued to various states and union territories having Jewish residents, synagogues or which attract Israeli tourists.
"As per the alert from central intelligence agencies, we have to keep a look out and secure areas frequented by Israeli tourists as well as a prayer house they have in North Goa. The threat according to the inputs, comes from a possible attack by Islamic State or Al Qaeda to avenge for the New Zealand mosque killings," a senior police official said.
Still Goa attracts thousands of Israeli tourists. Earlier, the state used to be a hub for them.
