CBI catches ONGC officer red-handed while taking bribe

Guwahati, May 16 (IBNS): The sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have arrested an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Officer in connection with a graft case in Assam’s Sivasagar district on Wednesday.

The CBI sleuths caught the ONGC officer red-handed while he taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a contractor to award a contract.

The ONGC officer had allegedly taken Rs 2 lakh as a bribe from the same contractor earlier.

According to the reports, the arrested officer was identified as Arabinda Kumar Singh, Deputy General Manager (DGM) of ONGC. He had demanded a bribe of Rs 12 lakh from the contractor named Rsfikul Hazarika to award a Rs 3 crore contract under ONGC.

The contractor had informed the CBI office in Guwahati and lodged a complaint against the ONGC officer.

On Wednesday, a CBI team caught the ONGC officer red-handed from Sivasagar while he taking Rs 10 lakh from the contractor as a bribe.

Meanwhile, CBI had registered a case against the ONGC officer.
