Rahul Gandhi blames RSS-BJP for shoe attack

India Blooms News Service | | 26 Sep 2016, 05:30 pm
New Delhi, Sept 26 (IBNS): Hours after a person hurled a shoe at Rahul Gandhi during his roadshow in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress vice-president blamed the BJP and the RSS for the attack.

"The BJP and the RSS people think that they will throw shoe at me and I will stop thinking about farmers. I am not going to move from my position," Office of RG tweeted.

"I am not afraid of your shoes and anger," read another tweet.

A shoe was thrown at Congress Vice President  Rahul Gandhi on Monday during his roadshow in Uttar Pradesh, though it missed him narrowly, reports said.

The person who threw the shoe was arrested.

Gandhi was giving the speech standing atop a vehicle at Sitapur, 85 km off Lucknow, when the shoe came flying and landed close to him.

The Congress leader, however, seemed to be unfazed.

Anoop Mishra, who was arrested, confessed to have thrown the shoe in protest against what he said, the "Congress misrule" during its reign in the country.

The man claimed he was a journalist.

Gandhi is on a month-long "kisan yatra" to connect with farmers in the state before the upcoming Assembly elections.
