Patna, Sept 18 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): A pall of gloom has descended in Bihar after the deadly terrorist attack at an army base at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir, leaving at least 17 soldiers martyred.

Of the total killed, 15 are said to be from an advance party of 6 Bihar regiment.

As the complete details about the victims are yet to reach, the families of the soldiers are quite worried. Anxious families, report said, are making distress calls to the army centres to know about the well beings of their kin.

At least 17 army jawans were killed in one of the deadliest strikes at 12 Brigade Army camp in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir early Sunday morning.

Most of the soldiers died as the tents and temporary shelters they were in caught fire in terrorist attacks, reports said.

This is said to be the deadliest strike on army camp in the past 26 years.

All top leaders in the country, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Rajnath Singh, defence minister Manohar Parrikar and Congress president Sonia Gandhi have condemned the attack.

“Pakistan is a terrorist state and it should be identified and isolated as such,” Home Minister tweeted, adding, “I am deeply disappointed with Pakistan’s continued and direct support to terrorism and terrorist groups.”

He said there are definite and conclusive indications that the “perpetrators of Uri attack were highly trained, heavily armed and specially equipped”.
