Top fashion designers present fashion films at LFW Winter/Festive 2015

Mumbai, Aug 30 (IBNS): One of the highlights of Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015 was the Fashion Films Premiere held at the PVR cinema during Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015.
Presenting everything exceptional, from biking stunts on water, to avant garde thrillers, the films opted for memorable themes.

The Fashion Films Premiere gave the designers an added three dimensional platform to showcase their creativity and delved into the storyline that inspired the collection. The winner of the Fashion film was based on the best storyline, the execution of the innovative idea and the making of the film.

The show spotlight designer/artists like Anita Dongre, Monica Jaising, Bipu Mohapatra, Juicy Couture, Kanika Goyal, Rishabh Anupam Sahay, Kristy De Cunha, Nikhil D, D.C, Gaurav Gupta, Sreejith Jeewan, Daniel Syiem, Chandini Sareen and Gina Narang. Films by international designers like MAWI were also part of the screening, along with esteemed magazines like Vogue, Grazia and Elle who screened their fashion concepts on celluloid.

In the world of fashion films, strong visual appeal is the price of entry. But this season's best films went much further and attracted audiences with surreal storylines and unexpected plot twists. The very intriguing drama/thriller fashion film by Vogue, featured Jacqueline Fernandez as the star, Akshay Khanna as the lover, Siddharth Malhotra as the cop and Karan Johar as the husband. It accentuated chic and exquisite clothing and had a fascinating storyline that captured the onlooker’s attention. Films also captured the festive wear season like “The Wedding Diaries” by Anita Dongre that showed classy bridal wear depicting modern silhouettes that were also traditional and elegant.

The films consisted of a variety of fashion segments, which catered to men and women’s wear categories. The apparels constituted formal, festive, casuals and couture wear, giving a wider platform for a variety of designers to project their creativity.

The award winning fashion film was by men’s wear designer Mitesh Lodha, which was based on the artisans responsible for creating the garments. The film shot artistically, showed the craftsmen who took on the first trials of the legacy collection. Mitesh Lodha was totally humbled as he collected the Rs 1,00,000 award presented by Anaita Shroff Adajania, Fashion Director, Vogue India. Shroff-Adajania stated that the Indian fashion industry had just grazed the surface with fashion filming in general, and urged the audience to compile and submit more films for the next season.

The feature films made designer wear relatable to its viewers as they connected to the fashion world through inspiring visuals. The Fashion Films are an extension of a designer’s vision and extremely effective as the visuals and can give the audience a sneak peek into the couturiers’ collections and their inspired ideas. The Fashion Films Awards event organized at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015, will surely take the concept on to a higher and more creative and organized level in the coming years.
