Mumbai, Sept 29 (IBNS): The Winter/Festive edition of Lakmé Fashion Week saw a spectacular showcase of shimmering silhouettes on the runway, and Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s ‘Illuminate’ Grand Finale at Mehboob Studios was a befitting tribute to the trend of the season.

Walking down for her most special Grand Finale ever, Kareena Kapoor Khan, the face of Lakmé Absolute, made for a glamorous vision of Illuminate, in a striking Sabya creation.

Adding grandeur to the show was a spectacular performance by the Symphony Orchestra of India, which truly brought the magic of shimmer to life.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s designs have been loved and admired for the way they celebrate India’s rich heritage through exceptional handloom and craftsmanship.

The collection included sportswear, a first from Sabya, along with lush fabrics weaved into salwar suits, kurtas and sarees all infusing a striking shimmer twist.

“Being at Lakmé Fashion Week always feels like a beautiful walk down memory lane, given this is where I made my debut in fashion! It’s an honour to be the Grand Finale designer once again and working with an inspiring brand like Lakmé. I have thoroughly enjoyed creating this collection inspired by the ‘Illuminate’ statement”, says Sabyasachi Grand Finale Designer, Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016.

Commenting on the show, Purnima Lamba, Head of Innovations, Lakmé, said, “Few designers can present ‘Illuminate’, a beauty statement that has made its mark on various international runways, like Sabya has for the Grand Finale. Through artistry and vision, he has created the most mesmerizing collection for Lakmé and we are proud to be associated with a designer of his caliber.”

Kareena Kapoor Khan, Lakmé Brand Ambassador, who turned showstopper once again looked incredible in a beautiful Sabyasachi design. She said, “It’s always exciting to be the showstopper for the Lakmé Absolute Finale Grand Finale. This time especially thrilled to be a muse for Sabyasachi. I love his designs and wear them often, and his creations for the illuminate collection are simply fabulous. Lakmé and Sabyasachi are the ultimate combination to have on a runway and I am glad to be a part of this!”
