Snapchat launches 'My AI' chatbot which is powered by ChatGPT

California: Snapchat has announced the launch of its own chatbot called "My AI" by using the latest version of OpenAI's GPT technology.

In a statement, the company said: "  My AI is available as an experimental feature for Snapchat+ subscribers, rolling out this week."

" My AI can recommend birthday gift ideas for your BFF, plan a hiking trip for a long weekend, suggest a recipe for dinner, or even write a haiku about cheese for your cheddar-obsessed pal. Make My AI your own by giving it a name and customizing the wallpaper for your Chat," read the statement.

However, the company cautioned users by saying: " As with all AI-powered chatbots, My AI is prone to hallucination and can be tricked into saying just about anything. Please be aware of its many deficiencies and sorry in advance!"

The company asked people not to share any secrets with My AI and expect to get an advice from it.

" While My AI is designed to avoid biased, incorrect, harmful, or misleading information, mistakes may occur. Please press and hold on any message from My AI to submit feedback. We look forward to hearing about your experience with My AI," read the release.

Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel told The Verge: " The big idea is that in addition to talking to our friends and family every day, we’re going to talk to AI every day."

“And this is something we’re well positioned to do as a messaging service," he said.

Is there any subscription fee?

While initially only available for $3.99 a month Snapchat Plus subscribers, the goal is to eventually make the bot available to all of Snapchat’s 750 million monthly users, Spiegel told The Verge.
