Rotary International District 3291 launches Hashtag English and Effortless Arithmetic initiatives to boost literacy

| @indiablooms | Sep 11, 2024, at 10:31 pm

Rotary International District 3291 has announced the launch of the Hashtag English and Effortless Arithmetic initiatives, a project under the Eazy School 3 platform, aimed at significantly improving literacy rates among underprivileged children.

The initiative spans across 50 schools in 144 Rotary Clubs across 12 revenue districts of West Bengal and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, offering online courses in English and Arithmetic to children from Class 1 to IV.

The project, inaugurated virtually by District Governor Dr. Krishnendu Gupta along with Past District Governor and District Literacy Chair, Mukul Sinha, is a collaborative effort between Rotary International District 3291, Pathanam, and The Education Trust.

The initiative targets children from disadvantaged backgrounds, providing them with essential skills to help bridge the education gap.

The emphasis is on creating strong foundational knowledge in English and arithmetic, two critical areas necessary for future academic success.

Past District Governor and Chairman District Literacy Committee Mukul Sinha said, "This initiative, in partnership with Pathanam and The Education Trust, is a decisive step towards making India 100% literate. By focusing on foundational skills for young children, we are not only equipping them with essential tools for the future but also paving the way for a more literate and empowered nation. This program reflects Rotary’s ongoing dedication to fostering education for all, particularly the most underserved sections of society."

The Eazy School, which is in its 3rd edition, also includes literacy programs such as the distribution of school kits, recalling school dropouts, creating awareness on Thalassaemia and Cervical Cancer, School renovations, Teacher recognition, Online merit tests, tree plantation among others.

Impact and Reach The Hashtag English and Effortless Arithmetic program is designed to reach thousands of children who may otherwise lack access to quality educational resources.

By offering these courses online, Rotary ensures that geography and socioeconomic barriers do not limit a child’s potential.

As Rotary International District 3291 continues to push boundaries in education, the Hashtag English and Effortless Arithmetic initiative stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and the relentless pursuit of universal literacy.
