‘Reheating our leftovers’: Samsung takes brutal dig at Apple’s first foldable iPhone

| @indiablooms | Sep 10, 2026, at 01:37 pm

Apple has joined the race for foldable smartphones with the unveiling of the iPhone Duo, taking on its primary competitor in the smartphone market, Samsung.

Apple unveils new iPhone Pro models

Apple unveiled its latest Pro models at its “Surprise and Shine” event, introducing a series of hardware upgrades over last year’s Pro lineup.

The new iPhones are powered by Apple’s latest A20 Pro chipset and feature the company’s new in-house C2 modem.

The launch of the iPhone Duo marks Apple’s entry into the increasingly competitive foldable smartphone segment, a market where Samsung has established a strong presence over the years.

Samsung responds with online jabs

As Apple entered the foldable-phone race, Samsung was quick to respond, taking several digs at its long-time rival through posts on X following the launch of the iPhone Duo on September 9, 2026.

Among the posts, Samsung wrote, “Let us know when you’re done reheating our leftovers ”, appearing to mock Apple for entering the foldable smartphone market after Samsung had already established its foldable lineup.

In another post, Samsung wrote, “So far, so same”, suggesting that several of the features introduced with Apple’s foldable phone were already familiar to Samsung users.

Samsung also posted, “Making us wait? Fine. We’ll be over here, folding 3 ways.”

The company additionally used the hashtag #ItsTimeToSwitch in some of its posts.

iPhone Duo vs Galaxy Z Fold 8

The rivalry has gained added attention as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Apple’s iPhone Duo feature broadly similar book-style foldable designs.

The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 in the US, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at $1,899.

With Apple now entering the foldable segment, the competition between the two smartphone giants is expected to intensify, particularly in the premium smartphone market.
