OVHcloud’s new cloud platform gets France’s top security qualification. Why do you need to know?

OVHcloud, a major European cloud computing and web hosting company, has announced that its SNC Cloud Platform, a public cloud offering, has obtained SecNumCloud qualification from France’s National Agency for Information Systems Security (ANSSI).

The qualification comes as France strengthens requirements for the protection of sensitive data. OVHcloud said it is preparing to roll out the platform across its European regions.

Strengthened Regulatory Framework

The development comes amid tighter French regulations governing the protection of sensitive data.

Article 31 of French Law No. 2024-449, along with its implementing decree of April 14, 2026, requires the use of certified cloud services for sensitive data handled by the French State and its operators.

As a result, security and data control are becoming increasingly important factors in cloud-service selection.

The requirements are also gaining importance across regulated sectors, including healthcare, finance, industry and energy, as well as among software providers working with public administrations.

Third SecNumCloud-Qualified Offering

With the SNC Cloud Platform, OVHcloud has secured its third SecNumCloud qualification, following Bare Metal Pod and VMware on OVHcloud.

The company said its portfolio now covers a broad range of use cases, from highly isolated environments to more flexible cloud deployments.

Billed on a pay-as-you-go basis, the new platform relies on open APIs and open-source standards. According to OVHcloud, this approach is designed to facilitate interoperability with existing environments while supporting data reversibility.
